Nanotechnology: an untapped approach in the food industry

08.05.2019 | Categoría: Eventos

Next May 21, Ctic Cita organises «Nanotechnology: an unexplored approach in the food industry», a meeting point between experts and those interested in one of the latest trends in food innovation: nanotechnology.

The application of nanotechnology in the food industry can be highly beneficial and make you become a strong competitor. However, this is a very controversial application that raises some suspicion among consumers.

With this conference, Ctic Cita aims to highlight the challenges and chances of nanotechnology applications in the food industry and present innovative solutions such as the NanoPack Project. In addition, the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragon (Opens external link in new windowINA), the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Opens external link in new windowUPV), the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (Opens external link in new windowINL) and partners of the Opens external link in new windowNanoPack:project (Opens external link in new windowDHI Water & Environment and Opens external link in new windowTechnion - Israel Institute of Technology) will also take part of it.

«Nanotechnology products could have a substantial impact on the food and feed sector in the future, potentially offering benefits for industry and the consumer, although possible risks need to be considered. Companies and institutes worldwide are currently researching and developing applications in fields such as the treatment of the mechanical and sensorial properties of food ? for instance to achieve changed taste or texture ? and modified nutritional value. Nanotechnology may also be used in food packaging, for instance to ensure better protection or to detect how fresh food is». (European Food Safety Authority, 2019).

If you want to know what this new application can offer you or what the latest advances are that will help you to increase the profitability and competitiveness of your company, we look forward to seeing you on 21 May at 09.00 AM at the NH Hotel Ciudad de Zaragoza (Av. de César Augusto, 125, 50003 Zaragoza).
