PROMOTION OF THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE RIOJA OIL PRODUCTION SECTOR THROUGH INNOVATION IN THE PROCESS OF EXTRACTION THROUGH EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES

Name of the Operating Group: PROLIVE RIOJA-NEW EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGIES

Announcement: Order 17 / 2016, of 11 of July, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Environment, which regulates the aid to the actions of cooperation with innovative character.

Year: 2016

Help Line: Aid for the creation of AEI operational groups on productivity and agricultural sustainability.

Objective of the project

General objective:Validation of emerging technologies (High Voltage Electric Pulse and Ultrasonic) for the increase of the yield in the extra virgin olive oil extraction.

Technological goals:

  1. Evaluation of the effect of the different treatments of high voltage electric pulses and Ultrasounds and in the time of preheating of the olive mass and in the final yield of olive oil
  2. Optimization of the process parameters to obtain the maximum extraction yields
  3. Improvement of the physical-chemical, nutritional and sensorial quality of the extra virgin olive oil obtained by high-voltage electric pulses and Ultrasounds, by increasing the extraction of minor components (polyphenols, tocopherols, etc.)

Business Objectives:

  1. Increase in the productive capacity of the mill (due to a shorter residence time of the pulp in the mixer and an increase in extraction yield)
  2. Decrease in production costs (thermal costs arising from the heating of the mass)
  3. Increase in the competitiveness of the Riojanas mills by increasing the quality of the olive oil obtained and by a lower cost of production
